Volunteers

Thank you for showing an interest in volunteering with us.

Volunteers play a valuable role at Delamere School, whether it’s helping in the classrooms or with hydrotherapy sessions, helping on outings or with wheelchair dancing! Delamere School relies on volunteers for all sorts of roles, including working in the classroom, running fundraising events or even helping with some gardening.

Some volunteers have been with us for years and others for the minimum time of a term. To all our volunteers we are continually grateful and send our thanks for their commitment and dedication to the children at Delamere School.

In order to maintain our high standards and to give our pupils time to get to know you, we invest a great deal of time in selecting, checking and providing a detailed induction to prospective volunteers.

Therefore we ask for the following from prospective volunteers:

  • a regular commitment of at least one school term (September to December, January to April or April to July)
  • a minimum time commitment of a half a day a week

If you would like to volunteer to gain experience as you are on or due to attend a course e.g. a Teaching Assistant course, please see the section below on Students.

If you are interested in Volunteering at Delamere School, please submit your CV and / or a covering letter detailing your interest to;

Email address: admin@delamere.trafford.sch.uk

Or alternatively bring a paper copy into school.

Please mark all correspondence for the attention of Barbara Telford.

Next Steps

Subject to vacancies, you will be invited to attend an informal interview and tour of the school before receiving a DBS (previously CRB) form for you to complete and return to the school with the relevant identification.

Your DBS form and relevant identification is then sent off by us to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This procedure is an essential part of our safeguarding arrangements.

After a few weeks you will receive notification from DBS regarding the completion of your form. Following a successful satisfactory outcome by DBS, please call the school office to let us know of the outcome so that your volunteering placement can start!

You will be contacted by the school to arrange a time for your induction before your placement starts. Please wear suitable, comfortable clothing for working with young children.

We hope to hear from you.
